2011 Pride Run in Central Park

Front Runners New York, a club representing gay and lesbian runners in New York City held its 30th annual Pride Run this morning in Central Park. Around 5,000 runners including members of Front Runners New York, their friends and allies participated in the annual 5-mile run. Today's fun run is the biggest and best ever with entertainment throughout the day, raffle prizes, and a great after-party. Proceeds from the event will go to the "It Gets Better Project", launched last year in response to some highly publicized suicides by gay teenagers. Several club members appeared in a video for the national project, which seeks to convey messages of hope to counter the despair of teenagers bullied or rejected because of their homosexuality.
